Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour is a popular decade-strong business, proficient in the art of making handmade gelato ice cream on the beautiful Island of Anglesey. They had recently decided to expand and opened their parlour in Prestatyn in June 2019, where they built a new customer base and grew busier each month. Their menus offered ice cream cones and retro desserts, cakes and small savoury dishes, tea by Brew Tea Co. and coffee by Poblado.
Once they were told to close, they made the decision to offer their ice cream in the form of a Party Box to be delivered or safely collected from their Hub in Llangefni with their new refrigerated van, Enfys Pride of Anglesey. Thinking of their customers in Prestatyn, they made sure they could deliver along the whole A55 corridor. They had also started selling their ice cream in convenient 120ml mini pots for other local businesses to sell. This has proved to be very popular and their Party Boxes are a hit!
Now that they have been allowed to reopen, their parlours have changed quite a bit from the norm. Originally, there would have seating available and allow people to queue up for ice cream. Now, all of their seating has been removed, one-way systems and social distancing are in place, hand sanitiser is available at the entrance, a limit of only two families inside the parlour at one time has been implemented, their staffing is minimised, the menu is reduced and of course, everything is take-out only. This is a big change for them, as they are used to having their parlours full of people, but it seems to be the new normal and they are embracing it.
With their parlours being quite cosy, they will continue to only offer take-out options until it is safe to allow customers to sit in. Hygiene practices have been increased and they are following Government guidelines. They are happy to say that they are still as popular as ever!
