Llangollen to Llandegla
Starting your journey at the picturesque town of Llangollen in the Dee Valley, this first leg will see you travel 13 miles on foot to reach the finish-line of Llandegla.
You might think that 13 miles is a long way, however this has the easiest terrain to deal with on the entire walk. Therefore you can be sure to relax and take your time on this journey as we guarantee that you will be stopping most of the time to capture the view. The first view you’ll want to capture is that of the popular canal that goes through the town and you’ll be passing many local shops (perfect for a souvenir or ice cream, we won’t tell anyone!).
A short walk down the canal is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which is a simply must see attraction in North East Wales. The stream in the sky is a bridge for the canal to cross the Dee Valley and is a designated World Heritage Site. This is your second capture of your journey.
Your next stop will be our very own ‘Castle on the Hill’. Dinas Bran Castle is a very popular destination and castle in Wales, most notably because of it’s location. It is set on a hill right in the middle of the Dee Valley and allow you to get a 360 view of this unforgettable landscape. The climb up can be quite a challenge (but wouldn’t want it to be to easy!) but the reward is worth the climb as you can light up your Instagram account with a picture of you being the King or Queen of the castle.
Your next location to head for is to the World’s End. Whilst taking your time in descending Dinas Bran Castle you will start to see a change in landscape as you will enter the beautiful heather moorland of World’s End. Following the path you will end up at the magical forest of Llandegla where you can get your final capture of your journey, a selfie with the tall trees.
Once you reach the village of Llandegla you have completed your first journey. Time to relax and recharge in one of the local pubs and get ready for your second adventure.
