The Woodland Skills Centre in Bodfari  is a community owned, not for profit social enterprise based in  50 acres of woodland  within the heart of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. They run a range of courses in traditional crafts, bushcraft courses, family holidays and courses for youth and community groups as well as Mindfulness courses as part of their health and well-being programme.

The slower pace of recent times has allowed them to reconnect with nature and revisit projects that have been put on hold previously due to lack of time. They have been able to rejuvenate their medicinal herb garden and completely redesign the community support allotment which they run for adults with special needs referred to them from social services.

And although they have had to suspend their normal program, they have been working in partnership with Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) to offer online nature sessions, their collective goal being to support woodland health and wellbeing in Denbighshire and Flintshire. They say ‘discover how woodland can help breathe new life into your soul, while learning to care for the environment’, what’s not to like? And we are not the only ones to think so  as they have received many accolades including a top award presented at the Royal Welsh Show in  2019  for ‘Best Community Woodland in Wales’ in the Welsh National Woodlands Competition 2015-2019, a  Green Flag Award 2019/2020 as well as being featured on BBC Radio Wales Country Focus.
