Ruthin Gaol makes a refreshing change as you don’t have to pre book to visit, they can also take larger groups on a tour and are now allowing dogs inside – what’s not to like? We are not the only ones to think that as they have recently been awarded a Traveller’s Choice Award from Trip Advisor for consistent positive visitor reviews. They are open every day except Tuesday. You can follow their updates here.
Nant Clwyd Y Dre and the Lord’s garden is also open with the luxury of not having to book. The opening times are 11am to 5pm Thursday to Saturday. If you wanted to make a day of it in Ruthin they offer a 20% discount if you visit both properties. There are plenty of cafes open for lunch inbetween. Follow their facebook page for more news.
The garden and tearooms in Plas Newydd in Llangollen are open with the gardens being free to enter, unfortunately the house is a little too small to accept visitors at the present time. However the gardens look stunning especially in autumn and the tearoom cooks delicious treats every day 10-4pm. There is even a mischievous cat who roams the gardens waiting for some fuss, follow their news here.
