Taking in the view

We don’t like to boast but here in North East Wales the scenery is stunning as we have all types of different landscapes. From stunning coastline landscape, rugged landscape including the Clwydian Range and Berwyn Range to our stunning valley that follows the River Dee through Llangollen. This makes our corner of North East Wales a haven for accessible walking of all levels so that you can be sure to find the perfect walk for you.

It is a perfect location for cycling as well, whether you find the One Planet Adventure centre in Llandegla for some woodland cycling or something a little more relaxing along our leg of the Coastal path. With stunning seaside towns you can be sure to find a great stop off point on your cycling trip.

Land of the castles

North East Wales is the land of the castles as it is home to many of the North Walian castles. From bigger castles of Flint and Denbigh to more secluded and secret castles, you can find our most popular castles or discover some of our hidden ones.

It’s not only castles that are in our corner of North Wales. The stately homes of North East Wales pull in many visitors to the area and are seen as peaceful havens for locals residents to unwind from their stresses. The highlight of the stately homes is Erddig Hall which is the perfect attraction for history buffs and makes for a great family day out (Also a bucket list tick for National Trust members!)

Going back in time

Modern life can be so boring! Why not travel on modes of transport of the past. The best mode of transport t see the Dee Valley is by canal boat…..however this does mean crossing ‘the stream in the sky’ (Pontcysyllte Aqueduct). You can travel along the 11 mile world heritage site canal from Horseshoe Falls all through North East Wales and into Shropshire county.

Another highlight of North East Wales is the mesmerising Llangollen Steam Railway. Tear through the Dee Valley in an old steam train and gaze on the beauty of the Dee Valley whilst in the comfort of an old carriage (a must do with children….they’ll think there of to Hogwarts!)

A Day at the Seaside

A holiday isn’t complete without a trip to the beach. We have a long and beautiful coastline in North East Wales. Stretching from Talacre Beach in Flintshire all the way down to the tip of Rhyl Beach before entering Conwy.

Visit the, assumed to be, haunted lighthouse at Talacre Beach and enjoy the golden sands of the beach where the scenery has been used for a number of TV shows most notable ‘Skins’ and we can see why they chose this stunning location as it makes for the perfect setting.

Prestatyn Beach is our Blue Flag Beach and is a 5 mile long golden sanded beach which is sutied for beach goers of all ages but also hosts a stretch of the Wales Coastal Path which is accessible for walking or cycling.
