It is Year of the Sea in North East Wales and we boast some fantastic coastal locations for you to visit and make a weekend great!
Talacre Beach
Talacre Beach is near the small village of Talacre in Flintshire. The most iconic part of the beach is the picturesque lighthouse that stands on the beach and has been the place of many selfies and is loved by photographers for a sunset shot. Also the lighthouse has been noted for some ghostly sightings as people have claimed to have seen a figure wearing old fashioned lighthouse keeper clothes and standing in front of the glass dome of the abandoned lighthouse.
The location has also been used in the popular British television drama Skins, in the episode Skins Pure…so this location would be perfect to get away from it all and reset the batteries.
Prestatyn Beaches
The Blug Flag beach of Central Beach at Prestatyn is the centre point of the coastline in North East Wales.
Accompanied by the Ffrith Beach and Barkby Beach which make up the coastline at Prestatyn. With a 4 mile long promenade joining the beaches together it is perfect for a peaceful coastal walk or a more adventurous coastal cycle.
There isn’t a better way to see the captivating Prestatyn coast than on horseback. Take a gentle trot down to the beach or head to the hills for some spectacular views, led by a friendly team who offer a range of options designed to please everyone from novices to experienced saddle sitters.
Rhyl Beach
Quiet, flat sands and great winds make our beaches ideal for sunshine holidays and all kinds of water sports for both the experienced and novices alike. With a stunning promenade it is the perfect walk to gather your thoughts and relax with the sound of the sea.
For more adventurous tastes, Rhyl’s Pro Kite-surfing is available for pros or novices to learn a new hobby. Also with the Bike Hub in Rhyl, your promenade walk can turn into a cycle by the sea (which starts with a nice cup of tea at the Cafe). Or for more adventurous cycling then head over to the Marsh Tracks for BMX, Road and Mountain Bike activities.
