The story of St David has many chapters, some stories are seen as true and some are seen as legendary stories. He was regarded as a traveller who visited many places around the world on different pilgrimages and even as far as Jerusalem where he became an archbishop. Upon settling in south-west Wales he created a religious community within what is now St David’s in Pembrokeshire.
St David was renowned for his invoking of a strict religious way of living in the south-west and also his ability to perform miracles. The most famous miracle coming at Llanddewi Brefi, where he is said to have caused the ground beneath him to rise up in order for him to deliver a sermon to a gathering crowd.
